Here’s my final project, The concept is a bit ambiguous I suppose. It is intended to convey myself and a friend watching the iTunes visualizer to relax after having to deal with things like this but like all our classes….not just this….like that paper due….and that comic…………..and the book……four of them actually.

The object of salvation.

For this project, video showing an “everyday” action I do that affects others, I originally wanted to film me and my friend’s day of rest, which is thursday, and filled with glorious cheap beer and complaining about life and all of the stuff we could have done earlier if we didn’t let ourselves get further and further behind in school throughout the year. BUT, I don’t know if this will work due to noise and schedules and time constraints. SO, I think I might focus on me an my two friends taking time to zone out and not focus on anything (every thursday, after beer, and monday, after work.) It sounds simple, but trust me, it works as a anti-stress method.

Always amazing, ever impressive, Tim Burton does it again. His new adaptation for Disney of Lewis Carroll’s 1872 children’s novel “Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There” simply titled “Alice in Wonderland” is said to be visually brilliant and full of Burton’s dark flare. The movie was unbelievable, the 3D was done in perfect style, not the thing of my childhood where cheesy effect flew at you from the screen, but rather a 3D world was created. The sets lie on multiple planes, some in the foreground, some recessed into the distance. All-in-all the visuals were incredible. It was like being inside of Tim Burton’s mind, I might say wonderous, if I may be so punny. The story was really well done, the acting was brilliant, Johnny Depp played the Mad Hatter perfectly with just the right amount of boyish charm and pained dark subtilty. And yet again, the costumes were outstanding. Colleen Atwood, the costume designer for most of Burton’s films, does it again. The costumes fit the characters personalities, and even accentuated them. They never came across as too costumey, and the dresses, especially those worn by Alice, could easily be seen as designer dresses made for the runway. don’t believe me just look at this beautiful shit.

For the public intervention/vinyl cut-out project I want to do something both humorous and somewhat serious. I hate being in the auditorium for various reasons:
One: I strongly dislike (grandma always said hate was too strong of a word) all the classes that take place there.
Two: I hate (sorry Grandma) all the classes that take place there.
Three: I feel as though while I’m in the auditorium I should be sleeping instead, or doing anything else really.
Four (and MOST important): When I do choose to be there I can’t listen to the speaker because everyone around me is talking too loud with their giant face holes.
Thusly, I would like to do a cut-out addressing all of these people and their inability to simply not make noise with said face hole. I was thinking of doing a cut out of Braille which would read “Please Keep it down, some of us are trying to listen.” The problems I face are as such, Most people, myself included, can’t read braille, and I have to make it so it can be read by everyone, so they can stop talking. solution: Have an accompanying image, of which I have three options: A face talking with the universal “no” sign over it, A face with no mouth, or a face with tape over its mouth.
Another problem is how to make the braille raised, solution: multiple layers, problem: money. I ideally want to put the piece on the podium, on stage, at the front of the class. Another idea would be to put it on the desk of the one of the chairs so that the students could actually interact with the piece and feel it as braille is intended.
